I was lucky enough to attend the premiere
of the Dylan movie
You thought they were all kidding you
in Times Square. It focused on his
friendship with Elvis and the songs they
recorded together. Some said it
played fast and loose with the truth
but I thought it was tremendous fun and full
of the timeless tunes those guys created
Now I'm back home in the UK, heading
to Liverpool and look! There's the giant
mural of Dylan with the Dubliners alongside
the M62, a fifty-foot-high replica of the
Mystery Tramps album (Columbia Records 1963)
Heading to the Odeon for the UK-version of
You thought they were all kidding you
which for reasons no one understands
has been retitled They all did tricks for you
Where all the scenes with Elvis have been
replaced with scenes featuring John Lennon
about how they invented skiffle punk
in the back of a London taxi, the
controversial album that spawned
and from which, truth be told, their
careers never entirely recovered
